Thank you for sharing this, Bert. I'll be honest that it's a bit TL;DR. But still, I well understand the rigged markets. We are with Edward Jones, so there's that. A friend recently moved his investments out of EJ and into a private wealth management firm. So far he is happy, but it's only been a few weeks.
I'm not sure about that but goodness knows I wouldn't doubt it for a second. Our financial planner (who we absolutely adore) was referred to us by our accountant. I do know that our friend I mentioned left EJ because he wanted to set up some kind of property situation so that he doesn't pay capital gains (DTS???). EJ doesn't do those. So, the company seems intent on capturing capital gains wherever possible. It's a racket!
I am sorry to hear that, but it has become the norm with many investment companies. We stay very conservative on investing and have had pretty good luck with American Century. They have some ups and downs, but seem to have a good model overall. They treat their employees very well, which is what made me interested in doing business with them.
Thanks, Bert. I'm glad you're having a decent experience with American Century. Ron and I can do some research as we move along. Maybe we will end up moving to another firm.

I heard that Edward Jones associates had to invest their money in the plans that they sell to others. If that is true, it speaks volumes.

It never hurts to shop around.
