Green New Deal
We hear the ruling class in government talking about the New Green Deal. This is yet another way to control us even more. They want to lessen our dependence on fossil fuels and move to renewable energy sources that are much cleaner.
Governments are historically the worst polluters. Visit DC and look at the carbon footprint of the federal government and everything that supports it. Look at the military bases, embassy compounds, and travel by government officials.
The renewable energy sources must be produced and they include strip mining and other methods that are not so good for the environment. Most of this mining happens in third world countries with few environmental regulations, low wages and protections for the miners.
There are always trade offs in these deals, the fine print is seldom read or understood.
I would say to these governments to downsize their carbon footprint first and lead by example, but we know that will never happen. The government will get bigger, to control and pollute more. The rules and restrictions will be for the citizens and not them like we are seeing with the COVID restrictions. Why wasn’t the government locked down?
Personally I don't want governments to do anything, because when governments do something it's the people that have to pay for it in the end, and government always screws the pooch.
