Agreed, and there is no easy way out unless Ukraine can take the war to Russia's cities like Putin has in Ukraine. Once they feel the pain of war, it will end quickly. Just my theory.
Great article with many angles to consider. By now, we should all know that there are no good guys in these wars and the same people suffer and the same people profit. I think that Trump tried a measured approach with Putin by giving him a chance for an honorable exit. Now that has changed and this could easily turn into a full scale war.
China wins either way it goes by selling parts to the warring parties on both sides, and two of China's biggest competitors are weakened in the process.
It seems so confusing to me to try to sort out his motives. I would like to see a peaceful and fair ending for everyone involved. It does not appear that he wants one and is going for broke.
He has to justify this war and the casualties and cost to the population. I think he’s stuck in a hard place.

It's always difficult to discern the motives of leaders because they are not in control Bert. As the global (Western) financial system slows so the imperative is for the bankers to engineer a war and especially in the Heartland as I explained here: https://www.theburningplatform.com/2025/01/04/the-financial-jigsaw-part-2-36-the-heartland-theory-operation-vigilant-shield-ww3-sitrep-syria-and-belarus-uk-snowbound-01-04-25/

So true Bert, it's very fluid geopolitics - anything is possible. And don't forget the Baltic states: https://austrianpeter.substack.com/p/the-financial-jigsaw-part-2-46-sitrep?sd=pf
It is all very complicated and so many moving parts.
Sobering information. Thank you for keeping on top of this.
